UNICEF’s Day for Change provides an opportunity for students to learn about UNICEF’s work, as well as providing a starting point to compare and contrast their own lives with those of children in other countries and to gain an understanding of the underlying similarities between their own interests and aspirations and of other children of their own ages.
UNICEF’s Day for Change dates back to 1989, when a teacher in Merseyside (UK) organised a fundraising day for UNICEF. Since then, UNICEF has organised an annual school fundraising event, based on this success, called Day for Change.
In 2010, all funds raised through UNICEF Day for Change will go towards supporting UNICEF’s Child-Friendly Schools project in Mozambique where more than 650,000 children still don’t get the chance to go to school.
